OKLAHOMA—Gadi Taub, an Israeli historian and author and senior lecture at the School of Public Policy and the Department of Communications for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem visited the Herbert W. Armstrong College campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, on February 4.
Taub was visiting the United States and asked about visiting the campus, which resulted in Imperial Academy grade-school students greeting him with Israeli and American flags on his way to his Trumpet Daily interview with host Stephen Flurry, followed by lunch with students and staff, then a lecture to college students and another Trumpet Daily interview. That evening, he dined with a few staff members in the balcony of Armstrong Auditorium.
In the Dwight Armstrong Performing Arts Conservatory, college students gathered in the choir room for the special Wednesday assembly, joined by academy students, some with textbooks still in hand, plus PCG staff and a few local Philadelphia Church of God members, who had all taken time out of their regular schedules to hear Taub speak about anti-Semitism and its effect not only on Jews but on Western society.
“The attack on Judaism is, in the end, an attack on the foundations of the Judeo-Christian worldview,” Taub said, and that antisemitism leads to undermining the Jewish ethic, the Judeo-Christian tradition and Western civilization at large. “This is the culture that values human life, that values liberty, that values mercy, that values hard work, accountability, personal responsibility,” he concluded before opening it up for questions.
Trumpet Daily producer Sam Livingston said Taub was impressed by the campus and the Church’s various activities and mentioned that it is nice to see “attentive and alert” young people. He also said Taub was “overjoyed by the greeting from Imperial students waving Israeli flags.”
Mr. Flurry first interviewed Taub last year at his apartment in Tel Aviv, where they discussed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Iran-Israel war. Taub is one of several Israelis who have come to speak at Herbert W. Armstrong College, including Ambassador Meir Shlomo (2014), Israeli Deputy Consul to the Southwest United States Daniel Agranov (2015), Consul General of Israel to the Southwest U.S. Eitan Levon (2017) and Hebrew University biblical archaeology professor Yosef Garfinkel (2022).
