EDMOND—Saxophonist and Grammy Award-winner Branford Marsalis and his quartet performed “The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul” for more than 640 concertgoers at Armstrong Auditorium. The 90-minute program contained some of the jazz group’s most emotionally wide-ranging and melody driven pieces.
The performance, sponsored by the Armstrong International Cultural Foundation, had been rescheduled more than once over the past two years due to coronavirus restrictions. Marsalis and his group previously played at Armstrong in 2012. More recently, foundation staff member Mark Jenkins performed a Feb. 11, 2021, event titled, “Mark Jenkins and Friends—A Salute to Ellis Marsalis.”
After the performance, patrons and fans expressed their excitement and appreciation for the music and for Armstrong Auditorium on the travel review website TripAdvisor.
