“Pump[ing] up ze enthusiasm” in Canada

CANADA—Two muscular men with Austrian accents charged onto the stage on February 21 in front of about 70 Philadelphia Church of God members from the Milton and London, Ontario, congregations. Introducing themselves as the comedic duo of “Hanz and Franz,” they stated their mission at the outset of the 2015 Milton congregation entertainment night: “to pump up ze enthusiasm.”

The show that followed included stand-up comedy, skits, vocal performances, instrumental solos and an Irish dance routine.

“Entertainment night was very balanced,” member Lauren Fehr said. “Lots of laughs and terrific talent highlighted by the original compositions made the evening a source of family enrichment.”

Michael Gauvreau, Jennifer Blazak, Karen Fuller, Summer Fuller and Christina Dattolo performed vocal solos, with the latter three singing original compositions. Duets were performed by Rachel and Christina Dattolo (vocal), James and Shira Fuller (ukulele), and James Fuller and Michael Lauzon (guitar and bongos, respectively). Additionally, Seven Fuller delivered a stand-up comedy routine, and Calem McCullough performed an Irish step dance.

Victoria McCullough said the night was “very comical.”

Michael Gauvreau, who sang “By My Spirit,” recounted the inspiration for his act. Years ago at Ambassador College, he had seen Herbert W. Armstrong walking around the campus, taking time to enjoy the verdant landscape. “It seemed like a fitting tribute to him,” Gauvreau said.

After sharing hot chocolate and popcorn, the group watched a video that reminisced on the congregation’s activities over the past year.
