Milton and London Congregation Gathers Wood for Fundraiser

CANADA—“When family comes together and works hard, it’s a beautiful thing, and a lot gets done.” Thirty-two members from the Milton and London congregations came together on June 26 to gather, cut, split and stack wood as a fundraiser for the work.

The weather forecasted “dangerously hot” conditions as the first heat wave of the season rolled through. With temperatures expected to reach 33˚C (93˚F), along with high humidity, brethren arrived early with chainsaws and water bottles in hand for the first congregational activity for the summer. Many brethren, aged from three years and onwards, worked together as a family to clear brush, chop logs, split wood and stack it into cords, getting it ready to sell.

When asked what the highlight of the activity was, multiple brethren answered that it was being able to work together as a family and get a lot done in a short period of time. The fundraiser began at 9 a.m. and ended at 1 p.m. During those four hours, God provided a major, obvious miracle to all who helped that day. While the forecast had showed blazing heat for the day, there was just enough cloud cover and a continuous light breeze during the morning while the members worked. As the final logs were stacked and the members congregated for lunch, the breeze stilled, the cloud cover disappeared and the blistering heat of the sun shone through. It was very clear to all that God was involved and blessed the event.

Members were able to accumulate six cords of wood which they plan to sell through the coming weeks.
