CANADA—Philadelphia Church of God members from the Calgary congregation set up shop at the Crossroads Market on June 9 for their annual Calgary garage sale to raise funds and support the Work.
It was a chilly Sunday morning as members moved tables, set tablecloths and placed valuable goods for customers to peruse and buy. A farmer’s market was set up next to the sale, providing a constant flow of people searching for useful items.
To gain more traction and ensure people could see the sale, ladies from the congregation put together signs and balloons to notify customers and lead them toward the bargain deals.
“It was a little windy but it was nice to spend time with the brethren,” said member John McComber, one of the event organizers. “They kept spirits up with coffee and fellowship, which was a treat.”
Over the course of the day, members conversed, shopped at the farmer’s market and ensured customers were satisfied with what they purchased. As the sale wrapped up, the congregation packed all remaining wares. The sale raised nearly $1,700 for God’s Work.
