SOUTH AFRICA—Preaching Elder George Githembe, who serves Philadelphia Church of God congregations in Africa, took a 10-day trip to East and West Africa, returning on Dec. 18, 2023.
Mr. Githembe kept the Sabbath in Accra, Ghana, on Dec. 9, 2023, where 13 members celebrated the 34th anniversary of the PCG with cake, eats and drinks. On the same day, he and the Ghanian brethren had a special farewell for Vera Ablorh, who recently moved to Canada.
Mr. Githembe then travelled to Lagos, Nigeria, where he met one new contact. The next day, he flew to Abuja, where he met with several scattered members and another new contact.
Finally, he flew the next day to Enugu, where he met a few scattered members and another new contact. He then returned to Lagos before flying back to Accra, Ghana. Due to COVID-19 restrictions in Nigeria, the members there had not had a ministerial visit for almost seven years, only seeing a minister when they attended the Feast of Tabernacles or went to Ghana. They said they were overjoyed to have a minister visit their country.
Mr. Githembe then flew to Nairobi, Kenya, where he kept the Sabbath with members there on Dec. 16, 2023.
