OKLAHOMA—International award-winning Russian pianist Ilya Yakushev performed at Armstrong Auditorium on November 30. Four-hundred and one patrons attended the concert, which included works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, George Gershwin and Modest Mussorgsky. The 2023-24 season marks the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninoff’s birth, the 150th anniversary of Mussorgsky’s piano suite Pictures at an Exhibition, and the 100th anniversary of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Earlier in the day, Yakushev gave a two-hour masterclass to piano students attending Imperial Academy (a private K-12 school) and Herbert W. Armstrong College.
