SOUTH AFRICA—On September 3, six members of the Philadelphia Church of God Cape Town congregation visited the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, located on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain and one of the Cape’s most well-known tourist attractions. Members spent the day exploring shady trails and taking in panoramic views from a canopy walkway. They also had a picnic in the conservatory.
A sun shower welcomed members to the location, but it cleared minutes before they entered the venue. Member Liza Githembe discovered the “tree canopy walkway” online, not thinking her desire to visit it would be fulfilled so soon. Preaching Elder George Githembe reminded members that God never forgets the desires of our heart, no matter how small or long ago.
“Spending time in God’s majestic and beautiful creation with God’s likeminded brethren was the epitome of the day,” said deacon Neal Simpson.
Ten-year-old Riley said she enjoyed the tree canopy walkway and mountain views. The members ended the day with coffee and biscuits.
Member Karien Simpson said spending time in nature “fills you with so much peace and joy.”
