Southern Philippines Holds Annual Family Weekend

PHILIPPINES—Beginning on June 10, 29 members from the Philadelphia Church of God congregations in Davao, Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro held a three-day campout amidst the cool mountain breeze at the Casa Dasya Mountain House Resort in Kitaotao, Bukidnon.

“It was a nice place, and the weather was so relaxing. It’s nice to spend time with the people of the same mind,” said member Ferbert Chi.

On the Sabbath, Local Elder Reniel Padua delivered a Bible Study, followed by a family potluck lunch, a pre-recorded message from Pastor General Gerald Flurry and fellowship. Member Eden Rose Johnson said that it was an amazing and wonderful experience to be with the brethren.

On Sunday morning, the single ladies prepared breakfast for the group, while others explored the area. The rest of the day was spent singing videoke, playing board games, swimming in the pool, jumping on a giant trampoline and talking. In the afternoon, the men butchered, dressed and cooked four native chickens and grilled meat for dinner. As the members ate and talked, the entire resort was blanketed with fog.

On departure day, Davao City deacon Fred Chi spontaneously serenaded his wife Jossie with a dance and fresh flowers, in honor of their upcoming 37th wedding anniversary, while members cheered them on.
