Canadian Members Gather for Pentecost Weekend

CANADA—On May 27 and 28, Philadelphia Church of God members from central and eastern Canada converged at the Canadian Regional Office for Pentecost weekend. Some travelled from as far west as Manitoba and as far east as New Brunswick.

The double Sabbath and the visit from Evangelist Stephen Flurry and his family made the weekend unique. On top of this, the weather was unseasonably mild, so brethren were able to hold a potluck meal outdoors on a secluded grassy area behind the Canadian regional office. The members worked together like a well-oiled machine to set up enough tables and chairs to seat 140 people, while those who were visiting the office for the first time took a brief tour of the facility. Many who travelled in stayed at local member’s homes, providing extra fellowship opportunities.

“It was a joy and pleasure to all be together,” said Montreal member Luc Lapensée. “It was spiritually exhilarating and inspiring.”

On Pentecost the brethren held another potluck in between services.

“The entire weekend felt like a feast,” said London member Julie Birkle. “There was a real family buzz in the air, and we hadn’t had a visiting headquarters minister in so long as a result of the Covid lockdowns. It provided a much-needed boost for the unification of the God Family!”
