Congregations Combine For Symposium Style Club

OHIO—On March 11 the Philadelphia Church of God Spokesman’s Clubs from; Niles, Ohio; Morgantown, West Virginia; and Buffalo, New York combined for a symposium style club session.

In addition to the unique format of the evening, the congregations were also invited to attend boosting total attendance to about 60 members. Everyone absorbed as much as possible regarding the symposium’s theme of 1 Peter 2:9 which says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people.”

A spiritual, nation-building focus was weaved into the extended topics session as well as the four speeches. The meeting dove into a study of the founding fathers and historical figures of the United States, gleaning lessons from the establishment of this physical nation. Some of the speeches included, “Foundational Principles of Family For a New Nation,” and “Principles That Propel a Nation to Superpower Status.”

Club director Brian Davis wrapped up the evening by leading a “questions from the floor” discussion in which anyone could give a comment on how to further apply the evening’s lessons to build the spiritual nation of God.

Local member Bob Nutting said, “The symposium gave everyone a lesson on leadership. As God’s future leaders, we are being taught to lead in God’s great Kingdom.”
