A new academic year is beginning for many young people in the West. What will students be learning? The days of instructors mainly giving fundamental lessons in reading, writing, arithmetic and history are in the past. Many schools today are educating students in how to live—the wrong way!
As of this writing, several states are battling over whether or not to teach homosexual lifestyles to grade school students! This type of perversion would have been unthinkable even a few years ago. Many parents are extremely frustrated with this indoctrination, and rightfully so.
Romans 1:28 shows why education is in such a deplorable condition today. Paul wrote, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”
If God and His knowledge are not the foundation of education, then all that is left is reprobate minds perverting other reprobate minds! A reprobate is someone that is not approved by God because of sin.
Jeremiah 17:9 shows that the natural mind of man is “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” No amount of reprobate education can change that!
But God does want to educate people and free them from sin. God wants to clean up the hearts and minds of mankind.
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).
The Bible reveals that there are two kinds of knowledge—good and evil. The Bible is the foundation of all true knowledge. For the Bible to really come alive in your life, you must put its teachings into practice.
In Matthew 7:24, Jesus Christ said, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.”
Christ gave a two-step process to have a rock-solid education. First, you must study God’s Word. Second, you must apply those words in your life. That sounds simple enough, but very few follow Christ’s instruction.
What is the missing component? Why don’t people let God educate them? Christ gives the answer.
“At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes” (Matthew 11:25).
In order to look into God’s Word and put it into practice, you have to have humility.
“For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word” (Isaiah 66:2). “Trembleth” means to reverence the commandment of God. In other words, a humble person will study into God’s Word and apply it in their lives. That is true education!
And true education will produce wonderful fruits in your life! (James 3:17). It will produce victories!
