ZIMBABWE—Fourteen spokesmen and their 10 dates shared an afternoon Harare Spokesman Club meeting on March 8. Each club member presented his date with a yellow rose to kick off the event, which was themed “Honoring Royal Ladies.”

Topicsmaster Amon Chiwara presented seven topics, including, “Which fruit of the Holy Spirit do you love best and why?”

Visiting South African guest Desiree Mofokeng, who was attending her first ladies afternoon, said she “really enjoyed” the topics portion of the event.

After topics, the club recessed for an hour, during which they ate a lunch served by the hotel staff. After the break, toastmaster Saraboy Chisina presented the five speakers.

“I really liked the speeches, especially the one by Mr. Itai Chirima titled, ‘The Love of God Not Seen,’” Loveness Phiri said. She was also attending her first-ever ladies event.

In his evaluation, club director George Githembe urged speakers to maintain more eye contact with the audience. Mr. Githembe also quoted from the Spokesman Club manual preface by Pastor General Gerald Flurry: “Spokesman club is a wonderful gift from God to the men of this Church. Don’t take it lightly!” He concluded the lecture with a quote from the Last Hour booklet: “God’s Family is the greatest royalty on Earth by far!”

After a quick photo session, the men and their dates watched a video on ballroom dancing basics and spent 10 minutes on dancing practice. The meeting hall then turned into a dance floor. The singles capped off the event with a singles group dance.

“It was my first time to attend a ladies afternoon,” Philomena Nduta said. “I am very happy I came.” Nduta had flown 1,186 miles from Kenya just to attend the event.

“From the venue, the food, the hall set up and the dance,” Precious Nhidza said, “everything was so wonderful, it could be a picture of the wonderful World Tomorrow.”
