Pastor General Conducts Campaign in South Carolina

EDMOND—Philadelphia Church of God Pastor General Gerald Flurry held a Personal Appearance Campaign in Greenville, South Carolina, on July 22-23, 2018.

The Church’s mail department at headquarters mailed its first wave of about 5,500 invitations to Philadelphia Trumpet subscribers in the area on June 25, 2018. Over the next four weeks, the department’s print shop produced additional reminder invitations and brochures while the pcg call center answered ticket requests.

A total of 321 attendees heard Mr. Flurry’s first lecture, which was similar to his subsequent Key of David program, “Germany and Russia’s Secret War Against America.” He said that Bible prophecy reveals America will be destroyed, but God will protect those who do His work. He admonished the audience to take a stand for God, even if it means suffering.

The number who attended the first lecture represented 70 percent of the tickets requested.

The Church’s regional director for the Southeast, Mr. Wik Heerma, said, “Attendance exceeded our highest expectations.”

A total of 142 attendees heard Mr. Flurry’s second lecture, 40 percent of tickets requested. Mr. Flurry focused on the book of Hebrews and God’s plan for a spiritual family. He told audience members that God is offering them the most exalted position imaginable and that they must learn to be teachers in order to qualify to enter the Kingdom of God. He also brought attention to the blessings available for those who support God’s work and concluded by saying that God’s Family will be both kings and priests, helping to govern both Church and state.

A follow-up Bible study on August 5, conducted by Mr. Heerma, was attended by 41 people, 16 of whom were not already members of the Church. Six individuals have become prospective members.
