EDMOND—TheTrumpet.com added a new Trends section on September 14 and continues to expand the feature, with an additional trend added this week. The Trends section provides readers with an overview of the Bible’s most important end-time prophecies and matches those prophecies to recent and current events.

Twelve trends are currently available, three in each region for Anglo-America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. TheTrumpet.com staff plans to eventually post a total of 35 trends.

“We want to differentiate the Trumpet from every news source out there,” Philadelphia Trumpet managing editor Joel Hilliker said. “We’re not just reporting on stuff; we’re watching specific things for specific reasons. What we’re trying to do is have a set of articles that will bring a new reader up to speed on why we’re writing about the things we’re writing about.”

Each trend consists of a summary article describing a prophetic and historical overview of the subject. It also includes a timeline with links to more specific articles from theTrumpet.com that track the progress of that particular prophecy through the years. Mr. Hilliker said that the staff is writing the summary articles with first-time visitors to theTrumpet.com in mind. Combined, the summary and the timeline articles provide the reader with a strong dose of what the Trumpet and the Plain Truth have forecast about a specific prophecy over the last 70 years, and what the Bible says will be the ultimate outcome.

Trend topics include forecasts regarding: the rise of a strongman in Europe, the rise of a Russian strongman, half of Jerusalem falling to the Palestinians, race wars erupting in America, Iran allying with Egypt, Europe warring with Iran, and several more major world developments. Several of these biblically prophetic trends are already becoming reality, including Iran rising to dominate radical Islam and the Middle East, and Britain exiting the European Union.

“If readers see an article, and it says, ‘Trend: Iran Leading the Rise of Islamic Terrorism,’ they will think, ‘This isn’t the Wall Street Journal,’” Mr. Hilliker said. “It will cause them to think about the bigger concept of forecasting. My hope is this will immediately set the site apart in readers’ minds.”

As new articles are published on theTrumpet.com, they will contain links to the relevant Trend or Trends. As readers click from these front-page articles to the Trends, Mr. Hilliker said, they will have a bridge from regular theTrumpet.com articles to more in-depth books and booklets that the website promotes. For example, he said, a reader can progress from an article about a recent race riot, to a Trends feature about the eruption of race war in America, to an offer for Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry’s book Ezekiel: The End-Time Prophet.

TheTrumpet.com staff is putting in extra effort in the writing, editing, and hyperlinking for each Trends article, as well as embedding videos, producing custom maps from scratch, using higher quality images and using other techniques to create a more immersive reading experience.

“The Trends articles will give the regular, daily news articles greater context and meaning,” theTrumpet.com managing editor Brad Macdonald said. “In addition to simply reading about an event and getting a short explanation of its prophetic significance, the reader, if he reads the associated Trends article, will gain a deeper, more thorough understanding of the prophetic significance of that event. I believe the Trends articles will be hugely beneficial in helping our readers become more deeply rooted in the Trumpet’s fundamental message: that Bible prophecy proves the existence of God, and that Christ’s return is imminent.”
