When we look about headquarters, with the administration of a global work, a college, a grade school, and all the other arms of God’s Work, we are witnessing the pioneers of God’s way of life. What makes all these different endeavors so successful? We could come up with many valid answers, but what I want to reinforce in this article is that the headquarters of this Church is the only place on Earth where God’s government is in force.
There is no other organization on this planet that has God’s government. Every department is administered with God’s government. Every facet of this Work has the same government.
God’s Church is pioneering a way of life. We need to be reminded that God has a purpose being worked out here below. That purpose is all about restoring our Father’s government to this Earth!
God’s government has been restored in His one true Church. That same government will be the basis for the Millennium and beyond!
In a member letter he wrote on May 2, 1974, Herbert W. Armstrong said that “God’s overall purpose in creating and putting man on Earth may be stated as:
1) The restoration of the government of God upon Earth. And to do this by means of,
2) reproducing Himself, thus producing an unlimited number of beings begotten and finally born of God into the divine Family of God, having developed holy and righteous character that will not, and therefore cannot violate or transgress God’s government, and, with God’s government, ultimately to rule the universe.
Just what, then, is the Kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is, 1) the government of God, but also it is 2) the Family of God, which, being the ruling Family, governs the universe.
As the Family of God, consisting of the Father, and the born (immortal spirit-composed) sons of God, it is (will be) a divine organism.
As the ruling Family, it also is the government of God, organized from the top down.
Meditate on what you truly are a part of: restoring the government of God to Earth. The fruits of God’s Church prove what He’s doing with each of us.
With all this in mind, project yourself forward to Christ’s return and the setting up of the Kingdom of God. Supporting God’s apostle and headquarters is to God wonderful evidence of your love for His government.
Brethren, we are all in training for positions in God’s headquarters forever. Revelation 3:21 says, “To him that overcometh [who grows in spiritual character] will I grant to sit with me in my throne [in Jerusalem], even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”
Realize that we are the mustard seed of God’s government on Earth. We must all strive for perfection, living within this restoration of God’s government. Matthew 5:48 tells us, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
Read Isaiah 9:6-9. Notice verses 6 and 7: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Note again, “of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.” Headquarters in Edmond, Okla., is the mustard seed of this increase. God’s government reigns here. Peace reigns here—administering God’s Work under God’s apostle. We have God’s government preparing for the Kingdom of God. If there ever was a time to think on these things, the time is NOW.
