Australians Attend Annual Mount Keira Family Camp
Members experience four days of conversation, games and the outdoors.

AUSTRALIA—The Sydney congregation of the Philadelphia Church of God hosted a four-day family campout for approximately 70 members from January 26-29 at Mount Keira Scout Camp. After a week-long heatwave, the weather was cool and overcast during the campout.

On Thursday morning, adults relaxed and conversed while children and teens spent time swimming at the pool, cycling, or playing volleyball and table tennis. Everyone headed to the main field in the afternoon to play a six-on-six round-robin soccer tournament. Four teams participated while members cheered and encouraged from the sidelines.

On Friday evening, members shared a tropical-themed dinner. The ladies decorated the tables with royal purple tablecloths and white flowers, and Sydney teens served appetizers.

After Sabbath services, members shared an outdoor potluck before the evening activities: table tennis, card games, swimming and cultural Assyrian dancing. The younger children toured the campsite in the bed of a pickup truck.

“I loved sitting around a light with brethren at night, with a cup of tea, eating chocolate and having a laugh,” Melbourne member Bethnahrin Kennedy said. “The unity of the brethren is what I enjoyed the most.”
