EDMOND—This morning, French- and Dutch-language versions of theTrumpet.com launched at laTrompette.fr and theTrumpet.nl.

A dedicated, long-serving crew of volunteer translators and editors had been stocking the archives of the French and Dutch websites with articles and videos translated from the English originals. Now that the French and Dutch sites are online, the foreign language translations (flt) department plans to post new content every business day, including articles, Key of David programs, transcripts, chapters from books and booklets, and full books and booklets as they are completed. The translations department also hopes to produce occasional Dutch- and French-specific news written exclusively for laTrompette.fr and for theTrumpet.nl.

The French website features videos from the English site dubbed over with a French voice-over, translated by Canadian members Pierre Vernier and Tony Chiasson and recorded by Belgian member Paul Fontinoy, such as “Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg en 90 Secondes” (“Who is Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg? In 90 Seconds”) and a Key of David program titled “Pourquoi vous devez surveiller Jérusalem” (“Why You Must Watch Jerusalem”). The Dutch website features similar videos dubbed over with Dutch subtitles as translated by Dutch member Irene van Halteren. The translations department is also posting on associated Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Google+ accounts.

It has been a productive week for the department, which also posted its first Key of David
in French, completed Lesson 22 of the French-language Herbert W. Armstrong College Bible Correspondence Course, published a Norwegian The Truth About Christmas, sent the November-December Spanish version of the Philadelphia Trumpet to press, and made progress on five correspondence course installments, two Key of David videos, three reprints and six booklets in Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Meanwhile, the Spanish edition of the Trumpet website, laTrompeta.es, is scheduled to go live in the coming weeks, and the department is working toward launching an Italian version at laTromba.org in the coming months. The German version, diePosaune.de, continues to post new articles and Key of David programs every week.

“[I]n some ways in flt, we have left the digital fort—a safe spot in the literature archives of theTrumpet.com—and are now running across the battlefield with entire websites, Key of David programs and other videos in specific languages,” foreign language translations manager Edwin Trebels wrote in a November 8 e-mail to the translation team. “This is a wonderful thing as we work hard to reach the largest audience possible, but as the analogy shows, it’s also quite a lot more dangerous, so let’s pray for each other’s protection and spiritual success.”
