Sydney Congregation Hosts Table Tennis Tournament
Young and old mix for second annual congregational tournament.

AUSTRALIA—About 80 members of the Sydney congregation of the Philadelphia Church of God barbecued and played table tennis together on June 25 during their annual congregational event.

As the food was organized, teams practiced their backhands and forehands for the tournament. Participants were asked to dress in their favorite sporting attire, which resulted in many quirky outfits.

Competitors split into mixed-doubles pairs for the round-robin tournament. In the final match, Team Klusenberg played Team Klusenberg. Deacon Ben Klusenberg and his wife won the third and final set over his brother Andy and daughter Mikayla. They were presented with a picture of a trophy on a piece of paper, sending the room into laughter.

Event organizer Davin Moore said he found it interesting to see how well teams played regardless of how young or old the players were.

“We just wanted to play and have fun,” Mr. Klusenberg said. “The highlight of the evening was the teens mixing in with the adults, seeing plenty of smiles all round.”
