Bahamian Members Combine for Family Weekend
Caribbean members share first family weekend in years

BAHAMAS—Ten members from the islands of Nassau and Exuma, along with Preaching Elder John Cocomise, combined for a family weekend in Nassau on June 13 and 14. Members heard live messages during Sabbath services.

“It was a very inspiring Sabbath and a blessing to have our minister, Mr. Cocomise, with us once again,” said senior member Betty Robinson.

“It was a great blessing to have one of God’s loyal ministers travel so far and spend so much time with such a small group,” member Garth Sawyer said.

On Sunday, members gathered at the Clifton Heritage Park for a beach party on the sandy shores of the Atlantic. With the sound of the water washing ashore in the background, member Garth Sawyer grilled hotdogs and chicken. Meanwhile, the ladies prepared island specialties.

Some swam in the warm water; others hunted for seashells and relaxed around the cabanas, while playing dominoes.

Member Dorette Ferguson said, “It was great to see everyone fellowshipping and enjoying the beautiful weather that God has blessed us with!”

The group also played Sand Pictionary, using the sand as their drawing board.

“There was a Feast atmosphere the entire trip. [I] thoroughly enjoyed the messages and fellowship,” Sawyer said.

“It was great being in the company of God’s Church Family (who are actually my real family),” prospective member Gabrielle Sawyer said. “We live on separate islands, so we don’t get the opportunity to see each other much. It felt like a mini Feast of Tabernacles.”
