CANADA—Around 20 members of the Milton congregation of the Philadelphia Church of God witnessed miraculous weather this summer at a teen activity and at the congregation’s annual yard sale.
Milton Yard Sale
Milton members assembled at 6:30 a.m. at a local community center on July 19 for the congregation’s annual yard sale. The forecast called for rain, and dark clouds in the north, south and east were visible throughout the afternoon. But sales began at 8 a.m. and continued until closing time, 4 p.m. Members and customers heard thunder and smelled rain, but not a single drop fell during the sale. Profits exceeded $1,200.
As members drove away on dry asphalt after the sale, they encountered a torrential downpour only a few miles down the road.
Member Rein Westerbaan, who coordinated the sale, said, “It was truly a miracle to see the road wet with rain just south of the community center.”
Milton Teen Activity
Milton teens gathered at the Crawford Lake Conservation Area on June 14 for a teen activity. Rain had been pouring the morning of the event, so activity planners began to form a backup plan.
When the last teens arrived, the rain was still lightly trickling. Local Elder David Weeks encouraged the group to pray that God would intervene in the weather.
“When I arrived at the activity, the pouring rain gave me the impression that the whole day was ruined,” local teen Daniel Di Santo said. “Just 10 minutes later, all of our prayers were answered, and the rain completely stopped.”
Teens and their parents toured the conservation area for two hours without feeling a single raindrop.
Teens toured a reconstructed 15th century Iroquoian village, learning the social structure of the Iroquois and fire-making. After a stroll on the boardwalk of Crawford Lake, the tired explorers went home as the rain began to lightly drizzle again.
