Music Department Launches Video Tutorial Website
Jenkins: ‘Straightforward song-leading instruction’

EDMOND—Herbert W. Armstrong College’s assistant music director Mark Jenkins launched a new instructional website on May 22 for Philadelphia Church of God song leaders: songleading.pcog.org.

The website includes instructional videos on counting, hand position, pickup beats, cutoffs and more. Quick-reference guides containing information about each hymn are also available.

Jenkins said his goal is to provide pcg song leaders around the world with “straightforward song-leading instruction.”

Using software including Photoshop, Illustrator, Garage Band and Final Cut Pro, the tv and music departments created a series of seven videos. pcg video production manager Dwight Falk taped and edited the tutorials, with occasional assistance from production assistant Jessie Hester. Web developer Daniel Arnfield implemented Jenkins’ design of the site.

Much of the material in these instructional videos originated with the song-leading class Jenkins teaches at pyc. He also incorporated material from a song-leading seminar he gave at headquarters in 2013.

Jenkins plans to eventually expand the website to include at least 15 videos.
