Johannesburg PCG Members Bid Farewell at Family Day
Greenery, games and goodbyes

SOUTH AFRICA—Forty-eight members of the Philadelphia Church of God Johannesburg congregation shared a family day activity on February 8 in the shady Delta Park, playing “volley-towel,” netball, soccer and four-piece puzzles.

Associate Pastor John Macdonald was visiting from Australia and experienced his first traditional South African braai (barbecue).

“It was very special having Mr. Macdonald with us,” member Trevor Laubscher said.

The day ended with farewell toasts as the Johannesburg congregation said goodbye to member Orka Fleetwood, who has since relocated to Edmond, Oklahoma. They also bid farewell to members Steven and Linda Hoeksma, who are preparing to immigrate to Australia.

“The family bond of unity and spirit of togetherness was just incredible,” Steven Hoeksma said.

“It sure was an eventful day,” member Brenda Muller said. “It was an emotional occasion as I said my goodbyes to someone who has been a very good and beloved sister for so many years.”
