TEXAS—The Fort Worth congregation held its annual picnic at Parr Park in Grapevine on September 14. This date, a little later than usual, meant cooler weather and provided added excitement and anticipation as the fall holy days were near.
Local Church Elder Larry Walker organized a walk and bike ride for about 15 participants before and after the picnic.
“This was the best picnic we ever had, and the bike ride added a fun new touch to the experience,” teen Shelley Jones said.
About 50 brethren ate grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade sides and an assortment of desserts.
After lunch, picnic-goers played chess, cards, Scrabble, jigsaw puzzles and Bible trivia. Children played on a nearby playground and water splash pad.
“It was a perfect day, and the somewhat private park location made the picnic feel more like family,” member Sam Jordan said.
