PHILIPPINES—Twenty-seven members of the Philadelphia Church of God Davao City congregation and Local Elder Reniel Padua visited the Philippine Eagle Center and Malagos Garden Resort for a family day activity filled with learning, laughter and conversation.
After a 90-minute drive, members arrived at the Eagle Center and saw the endangered and rare Philippine Eagle, which is only found in the Philippines, learning about its sharp eyesight, powerful talons and wingspans of up to 7 feet.
One bird that caught their attention was Viggo, which is featured on the Philippines one-thousand-peso bill. Visitors said that seeing him in person made their visit more memorable, and said they also enjoyed observing the center’s other animals, which included crocodiles, owls, pythons and playful Philippine macaques.
Members then proceeded to the nearby Malagos Garden Resort, a serene agri-ecotourism destination surrounded by lush gardens, relaxing, appreciating the vegetation and spending more time in conversation.
A highlight of the day was the resort’s interactive bird show, in which colorful and intelligent birds performed tricks and graceful aerial displays, prompting more smiles and delight among the visitors.
Lunch provided everyone the opportunity to share in good food, stories and laughter. After the meal, the group gathered for photos to capture the joyful memories of the day. Some then headed home, while others stayed longer to watch a falcon show and to feed birds and koi.
Members said that the activity provided a refreshing break from daily routines and strengthened their bonds.
“It was a blessing to share the moment with God’s family,” member Jelly Obregon said, “spending time together, appreciating nature and being reminded of His greatness through everything we saw.”
