CANADA—Thirty adults, teens and children from the Milton and London Philadelphia Church of God congregations gathered at the Brant Hills Community Center in Burlington, Ontario, on February 21 for the 2015 Milton Sports Night.
The evening began with a piercing sound from the referee’s whistle as two teams were selected. Teams Courageous Joshua and Obedient Caleb competed in volleyball, basketball and floor hockey.
The theme for the evening’s activity was playing games with tomorrow’s vision.
Participants were encouraged to take a different perspective in playing and strove to encourage and motivate the opposing team.
“I rarely had to blow my whistle. The teams worked together and encouraged each other very well,” said member Jose Labao, who served as a referee.
As the teams played, those unable to participate on the court played board games, while the youngest attendees played children’s games.
Courageous Joshua emerged as the winning team of the evening, sweeping all three events.
“It was a wonderful evening to gel together as a family,” Milton member Anandraj Ebenezer said. “It is not often that we meet in this type of setting.”
