Armstrong Fitness Center
Architects drew up plans for the Armstrong Fitness Center in August 2020, and dirt work began in summer 2021. Workout equipment was installed in December 2023, and initial occupancy was granted on December 19 of that year. The 70 x 100-foot building is purpose-built with three garage door openings for fresh air, and it includes a 6,000-square-foot exercise area with rigs, a functional trainer, treadmills, rowing machines, exercise bikes, ski machines, glute-hamstring developers, a pegboard, climbing ropes, dip stands, benches, barbells, kettlebells, dumb bells and supplementary equipment. It also includes an office, bathrooms, storage alcoves and a shower room, as well as a drinking fountain and water bottle filler that has saved more than 4,700 disposable bottles. The dedicated space provides a safer environment, increases the efficiency and flexibility of Imperial Academy and Herbert W. Armstrong fitness classes, and has attracted students, staff, local members and visitors who exercise together or individually in their free time. The physical education department also hosts annual fitness social events at the center.
