ARKANSAS—On June 4, Philadelphia Church of God members from the Central Arkansas congregation played a game of softball and a swim at a member’s backyard pool.
“Are you going to go swimming?” seven-year-old Ian asked several people as they arrived. He was already sporting his swim trunks.
The team captains, brothers Luke and Hank Chadwick, named their teams the Burritos and Tacos respectively. Players took to the field, and batters lined up for their turn at the plate. Luke Chadwick said that he was glad they had a chance to play.
About halfway through the game, Local Church Elder Darren Verbout hit a line drive right into Hank Chadwick’s waiting mitt. The tables turned when the Chadwick also hit a line drive, giving Mr. Verbout a chance for redemption.
The Burritos claimed an eight-six victory over the Tacos, and several members headed over to Hank Chadwick’s home, where Ian and the other children ended the day with a splash.
