Over the past five decades, television broadcasters have made a concerted effort to destroy the role of a father in the home. All In the Family, Family Ties, Married With Children, Friends and other sitcoms ensured the idea of a positive father figure in the home was destroyed while the idea that mom should run things and hold down a job was promoted. Network owners, producers and employees all too often ardently promote alternative lifestyles in preference to marriage between a man and a woman.
As a God-fearing teenager, you are well aware of this downward spiral and face its impact every day of your life, whether at school or elsewhere in your local community.
What has the impact been for society?
The Fatherless Generation website provides the following government statistics:
- 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes
- 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes
- 85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes
- 80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes
- 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes
Recently in the United States, two heterosexual brothers who professed marriage of a man and women in preference to homosexuality and abortion had their home improvement show canceled.
Earlier this year during the Winter Olympics television coverage, a major auto manufacturer dominated advertising spots featuring diverse depictions of families, highlighted by a homosexual couple.
The message is clear: Queer is here, and if you have a problem with it or speak out in support of male and female marriage, beware because the human rights, special interest, political and broadcast groups will seek to gag, silence or destroy both you and your opinion.
In an editorial titled ”Anti-Dad Bias,” The Washington Times lamented a tv network’s dishonest attack on the father’s role, featuring a show depicting dads as deadbeats: “The full tragedy of the collapse of many American families remains untold. It is a worthy subject, but it must be told without ideology; it must be clear-eyed about the myriad ways men and women have failed each other. Such radical honesty would make for compelling television and would be a public service.”
In fact, you and your parents support such “compelling television” and “public service” through the weekly broadcast of The Key of David. God’s Church takes a strong stance in broadcast, print and online on the subject of marriage and family, underwritten by the very Word of God. He has set His Apostle as His physical spokesman for His commission (Amos 3:7; Revelation 10:11).
It has been said that example is the most powerful teaching tool. The greatest example was that of Jesus Christ, who advised us to be “wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:6). We must be careful how, when and where we express our thoughts on this vital and volatile subject. Use wisdom and stay in close communication with your father and mother.
Fifteen years ago, Mr. Flurry wrote a 12-page booklet titled Conspiracy Against Fatherhood. Its pages warn of this devilish conspiracy, its promotion through the theory of evolution, mankind’s refusal to accept God’s Word on the subject, and as such, his prophesied suffering during the soon-coming Tribulation.
Jesus was killed for declaring His Father by delivering His gospel message. Also, the majority of the prophets and apostles were killed. Why? Because “Satan hates God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. The devil hates the God Family and is conspiring to destroy you physically and spiritually. He never had an opportunity to be in God’s Family. That knowledge only intensifies his hatred.
“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time” (Revelation 12:12). Satan knows his time is short. Whether you believe in him or not, his rage and destruction is worse now than ever before on this Earth!” (Conspiracy Against Fatherhood).
That historic event occurred following the death of the one who served as God’s end-time type of Elijah. Beginning in late 1933 until his death in early 1986, Mr. Armstrong declared over radio, television and print, the “gospel of the kingdom” as a witness to the world. From 1968 onward, he met with more world leaders than any other man alive. In those meetings, he shared the gospel message of the God Family, headed by our spiritual Father (Matthew 17:10-11).
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse” (Malachi 4:5-6).
That message of focusing on the father showed us how to love our physical families God’s way and pointed us directly to being born again at Christ’s return into the spiritual Family—the very Kingdom of God.
We are commanded to “honor our father” (Exodus 20:12). You have seen how the media, fueled by Satan, denigrates the father’s role. Don’t let that satanic attitude creep into your family life. The Fifth Commandment requires not just obedience, but honor. That is talking about not just your actions, but your attitude.
That powerful 12-page booklet concludes by reminding us, “Satan knows his time is short. Whether you believe in him or not, his rage and destruction is worse now than ever before on this Earth! People who fight and war against fatherhood are little more than puppets of the devil, and they use Satan’s tactics in their warfare. He is behind the conspiracy to destroy fatherhood.
“Our time before the Great Tribulation is also short. Pacifists will not survive Satan’s onslaught. If ever there was a time to take a stand for God, now is that time. Soon Christ will be here and the whole world will become a part of our spiritual Father’s Family. The sad part is how much man must suffer before he learns that lesson.”
