CANADA—The Milton and London, Ontario, congregations of the Philadelphia Church of God held annual yard sales in July to raise money for the pcg building fund and for local activities.
The Milton congregation held its yard sale on July 10 at the local community center used for Sabbath services. Volunteers began arriving at 6:30 a.m. to set up. By 8 a.m., customers began to stream in. Three hours later, a barbecue opened to sell burgers to hungry customers and volunteers. The event raised $1130 in profits.
“The yard sale was a great success. It seemed to run better than in past years,” deaconess Elaine Armstrong said. “Everyone really came together on it, and the teamwork was outstanding. There was a lot of enthusiasm from everyone for the sale, which was great.”
The London congregation hosted its own yard sale on July 17 at the home of members Gerry and Rita Baxmeier. Once the sale opened at 8:30 a.m., customers streamed through continually—even as clean-up started at 5 p.m. The sale brought in $1191.
