TRINIDAD—Four teens from the Trinidad congregation of the Philadelphia Church of God planted and nurtured approximately 1,000 heads of lettuce on February 21 in an effort to earn money and keep busy during school vacation. The project was organized by local deacon Ronnie Felmin and member Corinne Liverpool-Cave.
On Sunday mornings over the next month, teens Levi Ali, Alexia Felmin, Christian Cave and Israel Frederick dug into the soil, got dirty and went to work. Two months after planting, the crop was harvested and sold in the market. Each teen made about $425. They said the project was a lot of fun but also tough and challenging.
“This was a great and motivating experience for me,” teen Christian Cave said. “I was able to fellowship, interact and comfortably learn God’s ways with my fellow teens.”
