AUSTRALIA—Members from the Sydney congregation of the Philadelphia Church of God hosted a garage sale on June 28 at the Haddad residence to raise money for the pcg building fund.
Preparation began weeks beforehand as volunteers gathered items to sell from donations or even from other sales. By the 28th, there was barely enough space to move in the garage.
Setup started at 5:30 a.m. for a 7 a.m. opening. Amid perfect weather and a barbecue on the side, volunteers manned their sale posts and greeted a flow of customers.
“I found the garage sale was a success,” local teen Jeremiah Romanos said. “We sold a variety of things which contributed to the work.”
Sydney volunteer David Klusenberg said, “I enjoyed the collaboration of everybody helping each other and the unity amongst the brethren.”
The sale closed with a profit of $2,200. The following Monday brought in more cash, also more items were donated, which, when sold, will add to the total profit.
