San Antonio Spokesman’s Club Hosts End of Year Ladies Gala—Brazilian Style

TEXASTwenty-seven members and guests convened at Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in downtown San Antonio along the Riverwalk for their end of the year Ladies Gala on Sunday, June 3.

The venue offered a memorable experience to the club and guests. The meeting was held in a private dining room at the restaurant. During lunch, members and guests helped themselves to a full salad buffet including a wide assortment of fruits and cheeses. After returning to the private dining room, Brazilian gauchos served a wide array of different cuts of skewered beef and lamb to each individual. The meat is all grilled in the same way as it is prepared in the rural parts of Brazil over the open flame. About 15 different cuts of meat were served during the event, giving guests a truly unique dining experience.

The lineup of speeches for the afternoon were presented by Toastmaster and Herbert W. Armstrong College graduate, Joshua Wainwright. A variety of speeches were given by club graduates, David Block, and Stephen Crow, and undergraduates Paul Wilson and Michael Canga. Following the speeches, Club director and Preaching Elder Jim Cocomise presented Mr. Canga with a certification of merit in becoming the Club’s newest graduate.

The gala was the culmination of a lot of hard work and effort put forth this year by the club. The club also participated in six work parties helping remodel the home of one Houston family who suffered severe flooding after Hurricane Harvey. In addition to that, the club also participated in two home demolition jobs as a fund raiser that contributed to the end-of-the-year gala and the local church activity fund.

“The venue was very classy and was very enjoyable with the different choices of meat and excellent salad bar,” club member Paul Wilson said. “It really felt like a setting of nobles.”

Club graduate Stephen Crow said this of club year, “Our 2017-2018 Club year was more rewarding than we could possibly have expected! Our Club motto which was ‘God’s Royal Leaders Take Flight’ set the pace for the Spokesmen to soar to new heights with our growth just as God added to His Work a G450 for the same reason.”
